The Take 5 feature is something we hope will develop into something visually appealing for all that pass by. Already we have featured P1xels from Melbourne and The Lost Tourists from the UK. The most exciting and comforting thing is when you realise how many amazing people there are who want to help, even when they are flat out busy, they find time to help. One of those people is Henrik Haven.
In his own words…
Copenhagen based photographer, curator and media relations consultant. Working freelance for organisations, galleries, museums, artists and publications. Documenting and promoting a wide selection of public art events, exhibitions, studio work and selected artists for press, publicity, publications and archives – and taking pictures for some of the leading international magazines, blogs and social medias within contemporary art, street and public art.
Henrik is a self-taught art photographer, but started out in the music industry – working with public relations and living a completely different life. After 15 years – and a never ending list of release parties and concerts – he was stressed out and found that he lost himself along the way!
Contemporary art and public art was already an ultimate passion for him. He spent most of his savings on collecting art and seeking new art to photograph, around the world. Henrik comments: "The real kick-off was during the summer of 2011 when Shepard Fairey and ROA came to Copenhagen. ROA painted two sides of a tower and Shepard Fairey produced seven murals around the city. I was allowed to ‘shadow’ them throughout their entire stay and soon I played an active part of a very motivating process, as a documentarist. This was an eye-opener! It completely changed my mindset and photography changed from being “just” a personal passion, to a way of life. Two years later I found the courage to stand on my own two feet, leave the music business behind and work freelance as a photographer. Since then my work has taken me around the world – documenting and promoting a wide selection of public art events, exhibitions, studio work and selected artists for press, publications and archives".
