It gives us the great pleasure to introduce one member of our Lifestyle contributors, our 'Crohn's Agony Aunt' and new friend Aubry Fisher. It was a real joy, when Aubry got in touch and asked to get involved with the project.
My name is Aubry Fisher. Some of you may know me from the television shows TLC'S L.A INK and VH1's Rock of Love 2, what you may not know is that I have Crohn’s Disease. I am a 40 year old woman who has been diagnosed for 23 years, since I was 17 years old. Before 17 my parents used to call it a " nervous stomach". I must have been a very nervous child (Hahaha!) I live in Los Angeles California, and was born and raised in California.
I always say that you should listen to your doctor most of the time. That being said, I have been dealing with the disease for many years and hopefully will be able to give you some sound advice from a fellow 'Crohnie', although I am not a medical professional. I figure that we could talk about some issues you may be having, and maybe give you tools on dealing with them, and or, perhaps give you suggestions to maybe ask your doctor on your next appointment. I am hoping that we can have a really great time with Q&A, and we can maybe put some of your concerns or anxiety to rest. If not, then we can just have some fun.
You can feel free to ask me anything, and I will give you the best non medical advice that I can give. Feel free to ask me anything from social anxiety questions to medical, although again, I am not a medical professional. I will try to help you the best I can, and have some fun doing it. No question is too ridiculous, so do not be ashamed. Everybody 'poops' and when you don’t, it hurts.
There are other subjects that people deal with other than medical, that your doctor cannot help you with. Social issues, toilet issues, clothing issues. Sexual issues, and so on. I am hoping to be there for you for anything you would like to ask me. I have been on almost every drug out there from Sulfa to Steroids, Humira to Entyvio; and have had side effects from all of them, so again, feel free to let it out, and ask away. Again, I am not a medical or psychologically trained individual. I am just a woman who is dealing with what you are dealing with for a long long time. I hope to be your friend too.
Click the GET IN TOUCH button at the foot of this page and select ASK AUBRY from the drop down menu and ask away.
